PUL fabric (short for Polyurethane Laminate) is a type of fabric that has been laminated with a thin waterproof, breathable plastic coating. It’s perfect for projects where you want a material that resists moisture but is still soft and flexible.
-
Waterproof: Repels water, making it ideal for wet bags, diapers, rain gear, etc.
-
Breathable: The laminate allows some airflow, so it’s not as stiff or sweaty as plain plastic.
-
Durable: Can withstand multiple washes (often machine washable).
-
Flexible: Doesn’t crack or peel easily like older vinyl-coated fabrics.
-
Stitch length: should be slightly longer (too many needle holes can reduce waterproofing).
-
DO NOT IRON.
-
Can be overlocked, topstitched, and bound like regular fabric.
Cost $17 per metre
